Mural at La Vista Motel Denver
Custom designed and single-handedly painted, this mural was inspired by the mid-century modern charm of the iconic 1960s La Vista Motel on Colfax.
The retro floral design was heavily inspired by both the time period and the preexisting glass blocks scattered across the wall. I wanted to incorporate the window’s light in a strategic way, making the native Colorado coneflowers shine from the outside in. During this process, it felt as if the mural painted itself, spreading like wildflowers on the wall.
Total mural measures about 16 x 35 feet.

Custom Map of Denver for La Vista Motel
With motifs and colors from the mural, this custom designed map of Denver highlights the sites and wonders of the beloved city. As a Denver native, I made sure to include all the must-see locations I grew up with. As a watercolor artist, I was thrilled to be able to contribute my favorite medium to La Vista Motel, in addition to the mural. Prints of this map are displayed in every room of the motel, as well as for sale in El Pinon Cafe.
